A focus on connection

Meet Yogi Kate

A beautiful expression of peace & power

Kate sweetly combines her ashtanga lineage training with focused pranayama, mindfulness meditation, and lots of loving compassion to foster connection to our wide ranging Yoga Family.

Kate teaches all of her classes intuitively. She doesn’t pre-plan sequences, instead reading the energy of those participating and adjusting the class to suit the needs of those attending. There’s a lot of focus on energy, breath work and connection. Classes can be sweet and peaceful, or powerful and challenging based on the needs and desires of the class.

“Kate’s classes are the perfect balance of challenge and compassion. Her ability to teach to what I need never ceases to amaze me.”

— Jim

About Kate

My name is Kate. From the start of my life journey my heart has felt called to help other people. That calling has led me down many paths in life, and is what has drawn me to the practice of yoga. I have been practicing the physical asanas of yoga over the last eight years and have memory of finding meditation to be a freeing place of enlightenment since I was a young child. After a trying life with many opportunities to foster strength I was pushed to my breaking point. From this point, the practice of yoga was there for me to work through the pain of my past and use it to move forward into light. I found something deeper happening in classes, something beyond strengthening myself physically. Through the physical asanas and breath work, things began to surface. These things were burdens I was carrying, some even going as far back in my life as early childhood. In my practice I was able to see these things as they came to the surface, to lovingly acknowledge them and to genuinely work through them. Over time with dedication as I felt drawn to this healthy unravelling, I let these things go. I genuinely began to release the pain, hardship and ultimately lies about myself I had been carrying. I left yoga classes feeling lighter inside, feeling free from what had been breaking my heart.

This release and genuine internal work brought me back to my mat again and again. My previous career in environmental engineering had been filling my heart’s calling to help others, however, I began to question if I was doing all that I could. When my adored teacher approached me about becoming a yoga instructor I was taken aback. I had never considered teaching yoga, or being someone who could help others in this way. Others in my life completely unconnected from each other began to ask me the same question, “so when are you going to teach?”.  I took this as a sign, that whether or not I thought I was cut out for the role, there was a need for my heart here and I could much more intimately help others the way I had longed to. Part way through the life changing experience of my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training program something shifted in me. It became clear this is what I was always meant to do. I decided to make yoga and the sharing of its philosophies and practices my life’s purpose.

I have now developed my own yoga business, 108 Yogi Kate. I take the responsibility of leading others safely into the practice of yoga and meditation very seriously. I feel the absolute need to share the freedom I have found that is available to us all through yoga. There is no life path free of pain and hardship. This reality connects us all, it gives us the ability to feel empathy and compassion for one another. I am devoted and committed to helping others on their life path to find freedom from past pain, freedom from the worry of tomorrow and empowerment in the joy that comes from internal work. Through the practice of the physical asanas, breathwork and meditation I believe this freedom and joy of each present moment is accessible to anyone. I am here as a catalyst to help each and every person who comes my way find that freedom and joy within themselves.
